PM Update: Windy and cool to close the work week; frightening Haiyan images

A cool front raced through the region today, with generally light showers totaling less than a tenth of an inch. Winds have kicked up behind the front and chilly air is streaming into the region.

Through Tonight: Breezy and cold. Lows range from 34-39 (suburbs-city), with winds from the northwest at 10-20 mph. Wind chills will be near freezing early in the morning.

Tomorrow (Friday): Partly to mostly sunny, but those northwest winds make it one of the colder-feeling days of the fall thus far. Highs range from 46-51, with winds from the northwest at 10-20 mph.

Super Typhoon Haiyan: This monstrous storm – perhaps among the top few storms observed in modern times – is making landfall in the central Philippines right now (Friday morning local time). See my blog post from earlier for an overview of the storm: Super typhoon Haiyan closes in on Philippines, among strongest storms ever
