UEFA has announced that SuperSport has been awarded exclusive English and Portuguese-language media rights for the 2015–18 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League throughout the Sub-Saharan region. In addition, non-exclusive French-language media rights have also been granted to SuperSport. Coverage of both competitions will continue to be showcased across the SuperSport-branded channels.
UEFA Events SA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein said: "Supersport's renewal of its relationship is an indication of the growth and importance of the UEFA club competitions throughout the Sub-Saharan region. Thanks to its continued dedication, SuperSport continues to deliver strong programming to football fans across the region."
SuperSport will broadcast coverage of four live UEFA Champions League matches each matchnight as well as highlights. Moreover, there will be coverage of four UEFA Europa League games per kick-off slot, followed by highlights.
SuperSport will ensure additional distribution of media rights to free-to-air broadcasters throughout the region. For the UEFA Champions League this will include coverage of one live Wednesday first-pick match and highlights every matchweek. The UEFA Europa League rights will also include one live first-choice game and one highlights programme each matchweek. Consistent with UEFA's platform neutral approach, matches will also receive coverage on www.supersport.com and via mobile.
UEFA would like to thank current free-to-air rights holder StarTimes for its contribution to the club competitions.
