The 20th anniversary of the liberation of Miljevci area from Serbian aggression was celebrated today in Drinovci by ceremony lineup of former members of the 4th legendary Battalion of the 113th Šibenik Brigade and by laying wreaths at the monument of killed soldiers.
In addition to the defenders of this area, the celebration was also attended by the Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanović, on behalf of the Croatian Parliament SDP MP Franko Vidović, as the envoy of the President Josipović, Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Drago Lovrić, and ministers Ante Kotromanović, Ranko Ostojić and Predrag Matić.

Prime Minister Milanović recalled that, at the time when the news of liberation of Miljevac plateau was spread throughout Croatia, he was in Zagreb, and that he could not believe it happened.

It was, said the Prime Minister, one of the largest operations of the Croatian Armed Forces, which proved to be equally capable to cope with the enemy and liberate its country in its borders.

Today, Croatia has many problems, especially of economic nature, but since 20 years ago we solved much larger problems, we will certainly solve this, said the Prime Minister.

At the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Miljevci plateau, Chief of General Staff Drago Lovrić handed Commander of the operation Krunoslav Mazalin Charter of Croatia for a special contribution in the Homeland War.

Operation in which Miljevac plateau was liberated was conducted from 21 to 22 June 1992.

During the campaign, an area of 108 square kilometers and 7 villages in the Šibenik hinterland was liberated.

Seven Croatian soldiers were killed, while the enemy side suffered significantly greater losses in manpower and equipment.
