Overview

WebSphere™ Application Server, Advanced Developer Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 extends the WebSphere software family with a low-priced offering just for e-business developers.

The Advanced Developer Edition V4.0 can be used for internal evaluation and for the development, demonstration, and testing of applications only and is limited to a single machine. The Advanced Developer Edition cannot be used on separate servers beyond the single machine.

WebSphere Application Server 4.0 makes open standards the core element in many e-business solution offerings by providing a rich set of application deployment services and transaction management.

The new Advanced Developer Edition V4.0 cannot be used for production purposes; however, you can deploy developed applications via the WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0.

Description

WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Developer Edition V4.0 supports open standards, Web services, robust security, and connectivity. This powerful, high-performance Web application server, available for unlimited development at a low cost, is integral to solution offerings for commerce, collaboration, BtoB, and content management.

This new version is a consistent e-business application deployment environment with a rich set of application services across a variety of operating platforms and implementations of Java technologies and APIs. Included is approved support for the beans scripting framework to benefit users who generate applications with scripting.

Accessibility by People with Disabilities

  • Supports interfaces commonly used by screen readers
  • Can be operated using only the keyboard
  • Does not require the user to make responses within set time limits
  • Command line interfaces allow for customization of display attributes such as color, contrast, and font size
  • Communicates all information independently of color
  • Supports interfaces commonly used by screen magnifiers
  • Provides documentation in an accessible format
  • Does not flash the screen at rates that could induce epileptic seizures

U.S. Section 508 Status

WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Developer Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 is capable on delivery, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. Section 794d, as implemented by 36 C.F.R. Part 1194, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it.

This fee service enhances customers' productivity by providing voice and electronic access into the IBM support organization. Support personnel help answer questions pertaining to usage and suspected software defects for eligible products.

Security, Auditability, and Control

WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Developer Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 uses the security and auditability features of the respective operating systems.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
