The summer event that will fit YOU to a T

July 21st, 2013 by Lisa Jachimowicz

Tea isn’t just for parties anymore, you can cook with it, use it in your garden and sleep soundly with it.  This is why I am so excited to tell you about the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening at Sugar and Spice Tea Company!

The ribbon cutting will be an open house for the public with delicious samples of several house blend teas and a mix of the new menu dessert offerings.  I have to tell you that the baked goods are to die for and I just happened to  learn that one of the most popular teas of the shop is the Dr. Blue Who (local whovians clamor for it) AND  they were the total  inspiration for the real life Tardis bathroom that has become a tourist photo hot spot.

At the event you will also be able to meet the awesome Mayor of Poulsbo. They will cut the glorious ribbon at 5pm with photo opportunities available. The public is welcome and encouraged to tour the new tea room, sample the new menu items and meet the proprietors, staff and vendors of the tea shop.

Sugar and Spice Tea Company was founded with high standards and expectations of achievement.  Their primary initiatives are helping the community by educating everyone about the health benefits of tea, showcasing local artists, offering locally grown and prepared foods and hosting fun family (free popcorn) event nights.

The tea shop has also been very instrumental in providing a new, fresh community atmosphere that helps new residents network and meet new people.

I hope that you will mark your calendar for the greatest event of the summer. See you there!

Kitsap County Cash Mobs first ever cash mob on Bainbridge Island at Paper Products Etc.12-3pm Saturday July 28th 2012

July 27th, 2012 by Lisa Jachimowicz

Look for the Kitsap County Cash mob sign tomorrow  as we help Paper Products Ect by attending this very first cash mob on Bainbridge Island Saturday July 28th 12-3PM.

Why?

A few words from the owners:

2011 was a tremendously tough year on our business. The Winslow Way project was nine months of absolute stress. We averaged 165-250 customers in our store daily. During the peak of the construction period, we were lucky to get 30 customers in the store/day. As a result, we had to make cuts in hours, inventory, and extra services. We lost staff and regular customers. The recovery has been slow. We are also expecting a baby boy September 1st so we are committed to the hope that our customers will continue to support us – particularly through the slower summer months (which are often the toughest for our business).

We are an office supply, stationery, arts and crafts, school supply, balloon and party supply, scrap-booking and stamping, games, toys and gifts, etc., etc., etc., store!

In addition to our great selection of products, we offer many self-serve and full-serve business services. These include faxing, lamination, binding options, color and black and white copy center, business card and letterhead services, custom designed invitations and announcements and ad-specialty services, including logo and incentive merchandise.

Cash Mob Specials:

In addition to that promotion and numerous in store specials, we plan to provide customers that refer to the cash mob at check-out (and are spending at least $25) a instant savings of $5 off their purchase of regularly priced items.

This cash mob is during the Bainbridge Island Sidewalk sale so there are many reasons to visit the Island that day! Thank you! We hope to see you there!

They have toys for the kids, school supplies, scrap-booking, card-making items and a ton more. Bring a shopping friend and also visit the sidewalk sales! It will be a great day to be on the Island!

RSVP to the Event HERE!

The Big Dog Project is in dire need of medical assistance for a very special dog!

May 23rd, 2012 by Lisa Jachimowicz

I received this letter for help from Josh Rugal lastnight. Please read below. If a vet would come forward and donate the medical help it would be great too! Please read below and share with your friends and family!

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Josh Rogal and I am writing to you in the hopes you may find this story of interest and want to cover it. I’m a volunteer with a very small nonprofit dog rescue group, The Big Dog Project. We are a registered 501 C 3 and 100% volunteer staffed, as such 100% of any funds we are able to raise go to the necessary vet care, transportation, food and other supplies needed to provide the best of care to our dogs.

Currently I have a foster dog in my care that is Chihuahua/min pin mix and approximately three years of age. This poor guy came to us from a hoarder and has been extremely underweight. Upon inspection, a horrible discovery was made, that his teeth were in abhorrent shape. Arrangements were made to get him into the vet. The vet stated, after his examination of Ren, that yes his teeth were in very bad shape and were in desperate need of cleaning and many of his teeth would need to be removed. He was placed on antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory for pain relief. I was very excited for Ren that evening, to see him literally inhaling the meal I had prepared for him. This has continued for the past week or so, however Ren only has enough medication for about one more week. One of our other volunteers and I have been working non-stop to try and locate a vet that would be able to perform the procedure on Ren’s teeth. Our only hurdle has been finding a way to pay for the work. As of this point, Ren will be left out in the cold per se, left with very painful teeth and desperate for the ability to consume food without pain.

Since we are a 501 C3 and we only have a small handful of volunteers, fundraising is something we are actively attempting to do. The past months however have not proven to be very successful. Our current financial state is very bleak and we are not in the situation to be able to help Ren with his dental needs. I am hoping that you will find it in your heart to maybe do a story on this little, helpless guy. My hope is that maybe members of our community will see him and be willing to make a tax deductible donation to help him.

I have attached a picture of Ren for you to include in your consideration of this story. Our volunteers are just heartbroken and filled with a feeling of helplessness for Ren. We have been trying very hard to find ways to make the poor and traumatic life that Ren has come to know, a thing of the past and in the end, have him adopted into a loving family.Thank you for your time and consideration. If you would like more information feel free to contact me at any time.

Donations can be mailed to: P.O. Box 864 Silverdale, WA 98383
Dropped off at Naturally 4 Paws: 9337 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale 98383
Alder Trail: 5757 Hwy 303 N.E. Bremerton 98311 and

Blue Collar Pet Salon, 1740 N.E. Riddel Rd. East Bremerton

Keep your canceled check, as that is your receipt for the tax deduction.

Sincerely,
Josh Rogal

2811 Wheaton Way, Bremerton, WA 98310
9am
Look for the Cash Mob Sign and go ahead and park in the parking lot and walk right up to the window. They are having a relaxed Saturday morning tailgate style! Then you can go watch the 64th Annual Armed Forces Parade which starts at 10AM.

Cash Mob Success hits Kitsap County

March 29th, 2012 by Lisa Jachimowicz

Local customers at Jak's Cafe Poulsbo, WA

Our day started early for a breakfast visit at Jak’s Cafe and Espresso where Julie Krucek makes everything in her beautiful cafe from scratch.  The family recipes are all gluten free.

She served up many rounds of egg Benedict and delicious artisan creme puffs and really rolled out the hospitality red carpet by singing Happy Birthday to a local Poulsbo resident. Patrons trickled in all day from 10AM-5Pm and enjoyed their visit to the very well known cafe.

Cash Mobbers from Kitsap County couldn’t have asked for better weather for National Cash Mob Day. “My sales were up 40% that day- Thanks so much! When can we do it again?” stated Julie Krucek founder of Jak’s cafe.

Birthday Bavarian Creme Pastries from Jak's Cafe

The next awesome location was CJ’s Evergreen General Store and Catering where Cynthia Jeffries-Cyr also rolled out the penny candy,  Dinner to Go meals from her famous catering department, hot aromatic espresso, ice cream and pies.

Bremerton Cash Mobs were instrumental in inviting local residents, creating the certificates of appreciation and showcasing what locally made products were available for purchase.  “We bought some of the Sequim Valley Marion Berry Jelly. I’m in heaven!” stated  Robin Henderson founder of Bremerton Cash Mobs.

Cash Mobbers and local business owners celebrated the sunny day and the events success at another locally owned establishment by having a nice meal at Rachel’s in Bremerton. Everyone relaxed, socialized and networked with other local business owners and residents that they might not have normally met.  It was a very humbling, gratifying  and emotional experience for many who attended. Cash Mobbing might be addicting!

“I would like to thank all of you that came by the store for the 1st Bremerton Cash Mob yesterday. I really appreciate all the people that came out. We feel that it was a success. We were so glad to see so many new people and returning customers. We hope to see all of you again. If there is anything that you would like to see us carry, just let us know and we will see what we can do about that. Again, thank you so much. It really was an honor to be one of the first Cash Mob sites. “ Cynthia Jeffries-Cyr

Cash Mobbing is Alive In Kitsap County

March 23rd, 2012 by Lisa Jachimowicz

National Cash Mob Day is March 24th

What are you doing this weekend?  The weather is nicer so it would be a good weekend to attend a  Cash Mob!

What is a cash Mob?

Cash mobs use social media sites to draw customers to a local business.

On average, mobbers spend $20 in cash, (or what they can afford) and then meet up at a local food or beverage establishment as a post-mob activity to celebrate!

As a community we can all help local businesses grow, make people happy, and get quality local goods for ourselves and our families. The local movement is happening on www.kitsapcountycashmobs.com and is being organized via business owners who are administrating facebook pages in each town.

March 24th is National Cash Mob Day and two really great Cash Mobs are happening in Poulsbo and Bremerton!

The Cash Mob in Poulsbo is at Jaks Espresso and Cafe 19355 Jensen Way NE, from 9am-4pm and the owner Julie Krucek said “if it is nice out we could have the BBQ fired up and who knows what will be cooking! It will be delicious! I hope to see lots of supporters-Even some cream puffs with Bavarian cream filling might be in order!”

The Cash Mob in Bremerton is at CJ’s at 1417 Park Ave across the street from Evergreen Park at Noon. Come spend a twenty and check out CJ’s store. Afterwards they are going to meet at Rachel’s on the Eastside to socialize. Bring a friend and make some new ones.

Kitsap County Cash Mobs and local town administrators are hopeful to be able to cash mob one locally owned business per week-per town!  This is a very good start!

Naval Base Kitsap Bangor Trident Inn Galley does Outstanding Job on Thanksgiving Meal

November 24th, 2011 by Lisa Jachimowicz

Trident Inn Galley Comment Card

I cannot even begin to tell you how good this Thanksgiving meal was and how much it was appreciated.  It was pouring rain and our refrigerator had broken the day before so even though we planned on attending the declared special event meal day for DoD, Retired and Military personnel- it was even more advantageous because of our recent household fridge issue.

Even from the beginning, getting through the gate was enjoyable, the gate guards were friendly and helpful with directions to the Trident building and had a great sense of humor that was entertaining for a torrential downpour turkey day!

When we walked into The Trident Inn the first thing we saw was this gorgeous ice sculpture in the shape of a large fish! That was where the personnel directed us to the self service line (the quicker line) where there was turkey, ham, roast beef (oh my gosh the roast beef!) and all the trimmings. I was most impressed with the sweet potatoes – they were outstanding! It takes real skill to make sweet potatoes with the right amount of spice when you are cooking for masses of people.

The desserts were to die for and the running chocolate fountain would have made Willy Wonka jealous!

The icing on the cake  for me were the HUGE crab legs. I had been anticipating these all week and they were even better than I thought they would be!

Even the coffee bar was outstanding with Starbucks coffee and different shots of flavored creamers!

The atmosphere was relaxing and people seemed to really enjoy the food and brought family and friends. It was great to see military past, present and current DoD come together for an exquisite meal. I am just a blogger, PSNS spouse and mom… but I really commend the Trident Inn for a job well done.

THANK YOU for the great price and quality of the meal, it made it a great day for all that attended.

PS) We would love more Special Event Days so keep us posted if there are more for DoD workers and families!
