Sen. Deeds in serious condition

Son, Gus, pronounced dead

MILLBORO — Early this morning, Gus Deeds stabbed his father, Sen. Creigh Deeds, and then shot himself.

State police have confirmed Gus Deeds died from his injuries.

Sen. Deeds was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries resulting from multiple stab wounds.

Bath law enforcement and rescue personnel responded around 7:30 this morning to a report of a shooting and stabbing on Vineyard Drive, off Route 42, in Millboro, with two male victims — one with multiple stab wounds to the shoulder and torso; another with a gunshot wound to the head. 

The investigation remains ongoing at this time by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Salem Field Office.
