THE House of Representatives is scheduled to hear the bill for the cityhood of Valencia, Negros Oriental on Wednesday.

Negros Oriental (1st district) Representative Pryde Henry Teves said the hearing is scheduled after he filed the cityhood bill in the House.

Valencia Mayor Edgar Teves will attend the hearing, he added.

Congressman Teves believes that the cityhood will gain support in the House because the town passed all the requirements.

Earlier, Mayor Teves told the media that although Valencia will not qualify as a city in terms of population, its land area and income meet the requirement.

Valencia has an income of not less than P3 million per year for five consecutive years. The law requires P1-million income a year for three consecutive years.

The cityhood of Valencia is long overdue, Congressman Teves said. (Victor L. Camion/Sunnex)
