The First Baby of the New Year 2014 to be photographed by Funky Monkey Photography

The very exciting title of being the First Baby of the New Year to be photographed by Funky Monkey Photography goes to:
Little Baby Elsie, 2 weeks old here.

This beautiful mama and her “sweet cupcake” are missing someone they love very much. They are soon to be reunited with her husband and Elsie’s dad who is currently in the military. I’m very much looking forward to photographing their reunion!

While I always bring lots of soft knitted hats and blankets with me, along with many other newborn photography props, sometimes we use a item that belongs to the baby’s family. This particular cupcake hat held a special place in the their hearts because it was hand made by baby’s great aunt.

What happens when Pinterest ideas go wrong

I always ask families I work with for ideas they may have for their photo session because I want to make sure the final result tells their story.  I also try to make the whole experience personal and customized to them. From time to time, someone brings up an idea inspired by the endless eye candy that is Pinterest. But what happens in reality?

Here’s what happened last time. The mom of these 2 munchkins saw humor in the idea of a little brother pulling a prank by tying up his sister with Christmas lights. That’s the inspiration idea. But the little guy wanted nothing to do with it. His sister was supposed to be the one to appear tortured, but instead he looked like the one!

Authentic, spontaneous winter fun.

Mrs. E sure got into the joy of snow throwing! Wee! Real Wisconsin winter fun!

Even her little brother warmed up a little and ended up having a good time.
