Applications for employment shall be accepted only for posted vacancies. Each candidate for municipal employment shall complete the official employment application. Resumes, transcripts, certifications and other materials may be required as is deemed necessary in order to judge the applicant's fitness for service with the Town. Applications shall not be returned to the applicant, but will remain on file for at least two years, after which they may be destroyed once approval has been received from the State Records Administrator. Public Works Director/Town Engineer

The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut is seeking an innovative, dynamic, experienced public works and civil engineering professional to lead its Public Works Department.  The Director/Town Engineer has oversight and responsibility for operations (roads, grounds, solid waste/recycling, equipment/fleet maintenance) and engineering. The Public Works Director/Town Engineer is responsible for: visioning and planning activities; coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Public Works Department; budgeting and grant administration; capital projects administration; professional engineering work; developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental services; and developing and administering departmental policies and procedures.  The Director is also responsible for coaching, supervising and evaluating departmental personnel.  The Public Works Director/Town Engineer reports to the Town Manager and provides staff support to a number of citizen advisory committees.

Mansfield’s current Public Works Director/Town Engineer is retiring after 35 years of dedicated service to the community.  The selected candidate should begin work by December 2, 2013, with a transition and orientation period of 1 ½ weeks with the current Director. The salary range is $88,234-$123,560/yr with a competitive benefits package. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field supplemented by professional engineer certification and considerable supervisory experience are required. Extensive municipal experience and a master’s degree are highly desirable.  The Town will look to the selected candidate to build on the Department's strengths while providing vision and leadership to ensure that the Department continues to meet the needs of the community. The selected candidate will be expected to maintain our tradition of excellent public service.

Work Hours and Schedule
The selected candidate should begin work by December 2, 2013. This is a full-time position. The normal work schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday – Wednesday 8:15am-4:30pm, Thursday 8:15am-6:30pm, and Friday 8am-noon. The selected candidate will staff and attend numerous Town Council and advisory committee meetings, some of which occur in the evenings. This is an exempt position eligible to earn compensatory time for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

Fitness Instructors (Parks and Recreation)

The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is searching for new Fitness Instructors, primarily for strength & toning, hula hooping, and step classes.  Work schedule is variable including evenings and weekends, with possibility for more hours as subs are needed.  Hiring pay rate is $18/hr-$24/hr depending on certifications and experience.  Classes begin seasonally, currently accepting applications;  application review will begin immediately. Community Center Part-Time Positions - Parks and Recreation Department

Child Care Workers
Looking for responsible people to work at the Community Center Child Care Room, which is a drop in care program for children ages 1-7.  Some experience working with children preferred. Flexible scheduling including morning, evening and weekend hours.   Part-time positions, $8.25-$10.01/hr. 

Before and After School Staff
Looking for responsible people to work at the before and after school program held at the Community Center and Vinton and Southeast elementary schools.  Some experience working with children preferred. Flexible scheduling including early morning and late afternoon weekdays, according to the school calendar.  Part-time positions, $8.37-$1016/hr.
