Yellow fever: SpongeBob figure to debut at Madame Tussauds

sponge There's a new star in wax town: On Wednesday, July 15, the Times Square Madame Tussauds will reveal its newest famous face: SpongeBob SquarePants. In honor of the tenth anniversary of the "absorbent and yellow and porous" one (and if that makes you feel old, just read this), the museum is unavailing a lifelike statue of the animated icon, which will be seated on a three-foot-tall jellyfish in a replica of Jellyfish Fields. As if your kid weren't excited enough already, visitors will be periodically showered with bubbles (that should keep little siblings happy!) As an added incentive to visit the tourist spot, Madame Tussauds is offering free admission to kids 12 and under from Wed July 15 to Fri July 31—if their entire family comes decked out in yellow. C'mon, we know you have it in you! After all, if the Man with the Yellow Hat and Dick Tracy can do it, why can't you? Madame Tussauds New York, 234 W 42nd St between Seventh and Eighth Aves, 800-246-8872.
