Lukasz Piszczek's injury blow for Arsene Wenger
ARSENE WENGER’S hopes of solving Arsenal’s right-back dilemma look to have been dashed by an injury to Lukasz Piszczek.
The 27-year-old Poland international was a regular in the Dortmund team that did so well in Europe’s top club competition
Reports in Germany say Wenger went to watch Dortmund at the Gunners’ training ground on Saturday, prior to their Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich at Wembley.
And £12m-rated Piszczek was the man Wenger had a close eye on.
The 27-year-old Poland international was a regular in the Dortmund team that did so well in Europe’s top club competition. But it has emerged Piszczek needs a hip operation this summer and it is feared he could be out of action for five months.
Sagna’s contract expires next summer and Arsenal want to stick to their principle of not offering more than a one-year extension for a player in their 30s.
He has also struggled physically over the past year after coming back from two broken legs.
