Did You Know:

Donald Sutherland inspired Gary Ross to add the two President Snow rose garden scenes in the Hunger Games after sending Gary his famous email. You can listen to Donald reading his email to Gary in Letters from the Rose Garden, which is included in the Hunger Games DVD Bonus Features.

Being very tall, Sutherland has long since had a habit of slouching over so he could meet other actors eye to eye.

Donald is the father to actor, Kiefer Sutherland.

When you’re working for a good director, you become subjective and submissive. You become his concubine. All that you’re seeking is his pleasure.

As President Snow, the role I play in the film, I’m a true totalitarian. But the character is really smart, and as a politician, he has nothing to lose. He administers fear and hope. The film also shows what being a capitalist is in the United States. It’s the oppressive oligarchy of the privileged.
