Workshop Overview

The workshop saw OMII-UK staff, software developers, architects and users meeting up to produce collaborative solutions to problems of interest to the e-Research community. Participants were encouraged to register well focused topics for discussion. Inviting people from outside OMII-UK to the workshop provided extremely valuable input.

Introduction and actions

Links to the introductory presentations, a final version of the agenda and a list of actions taken from all of the sessions are listed below.

The workshop used a flexible agenda, which was amended and updated as the sessions took place. If people wanted to talk about something new, or exhausted a subject, the agenda was changed accordingly. This format had been successfully used at previous OMII-UK staff meetings and was found to be productive for generating new ideas, requirements, solutions and, in general, constructively exploring the e-Research space. The final agenda(info) is available for download.

The workshop started off with an Introduction to the OMII-UK Collaborations Workshop(info) and an introduction to the break-out sessions(info), followed by a quick review of topics and selection of the first set of topics. The rest of the workshop was taken up with a mixture of break-out groups and reporting sessions. A summary session at the end of the workshop enabled us to wrap up what had been discovered and identify the most promising leads for further scrutiny.

What did people think of the Collaborations Workshop?

During the workshop, we asked people to describe their experiences, which have been collected on the What People Thought.

Attendees

A list of attendees is available on the attendees page.

Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, a list of actions from every session(info) (first pass) was created.

Details about what was discussed at the workshop and the suggested work for the future can be found in the following table. Information from the sessions was captured in a powerpoint (using a reporting-back template(info)). The powerpoints were then transcribed and summarised to produce the Overview, conclusions and further work listed below.
