Iran club coach resigns after fan attack

Mojtaba Taghavi has parted company with Mes Kerman less than two months into the job after fans attacked him during a training session

Mes Kerman coach Mojtaba Taghavi resigned days before Iran's new season kicked off having been attacked by supporters.

Taghavi and assistant Bijan Taheri were taking a practice session in preparation for the first game of the new campaign against Rah Ahan, when 30 to 40 fans attacked Taghavi, showing their unhappiness at his appointment.

Taghavi, 45, was unveiled as the coach of Mes Kerman on June 1 following a ninth-placed finish with Saipi last season.

The Iranian coach announced his resignation due to unsafe working conditions, lasting less than two months in charge of the club.
