New Honor For Penn, Teller

May 15, 1986

"Penn & Teller Go Public," a KCET Channel 28 production that won two local Emmy Awards 10 days ago, expanded its honors to an international scale Wednesday by being named the world's best light-entertainment special of 1985 at a TV festival in Montreaux, Switzerland.

The half-hour program, featuring the comedy and magic of performers Penn Gillette and the single-named Teller, captured the top prize among 33 entries in the 26th annual Golden Rose competition.

The show first aired on KCET in April, 1985, and later was shown on the PBS network. Earlier this month it won Emmys for best entertainment special and best performers in local television during the last year.
