Why a Toolbox?
Sharing some of our communication tools - This is what this page is all about. Here you will find material and tools produced or collected by the Info Centre that will help you in your communications effort and in reaching out to your target audiences, be they projects working on specific issues, journalists, NGOs/CSOs, government officials or other stakeholders. What we have put together can be freely used as it is or as a basis for your communications. We also guide you to where you can get the background info to the actions and decisions that will help you when defining your own communications strategy and tools!

The Background
 
Neighbourhood messages
Having messages that resonate with your target audience/s is key in communications. These messages should be used by all involved, in a speech, on a website, in a publication, etc. The Info Centre has produced messages, some of which are being used on its postcard and poster collection (see below). Feel free to use them or adapt them to your needs.

Photos
A key communication tool that can be used in many different ways, from a publication, a story and a website, to a calendar, a bookmark, a poster, or a PPT. The info Centre photos are from activities on the ground, taken by professional journalists and free to use so long as copyright (EU/Info Centre + photographer) is respected.

EU Visibility gallery: a series of photos that include general EU visibility elements in them, like the EU flag, which can be freely used to illustrate your material.
 
A Photographer’s Handbook: created by the Info Centre to help projects understand the importance of high quality photos and what they should be asking for. Can also be shared with photographers.

Handbooks
The EU Neighbourhood Info Centre has created a series of handbooks that mainly aim at supporting projects, and also journalists and photographers. The handbooks are written in an easy to read and animated style, with plenty of examples, useful links and templates.
 
A Journalist’s Handbook: can be shared with journalists, as it is experience based and provides an outline of how the EU information flow works, which are the sources and links.
 
A Photographer’s Handbook: created for projects to understand the importance of high quality photos and what they should be asking for. Can also be shared with photographers.
 
Writing to Grab Attention: written for projects to help them understand the importance of good, tight and interesting writing in their communications.
 
Press Release Handbook: written for projects to help them understand how a press release is used and why it’s important that it is written in a way that attracts the journalist’s attention.
 
FAQ Visibility and Communication: a handbook with questions often raised, explaining in a simple way the main rules and requirements in how to refer to the EU funding.

Country Postcards: a series of postcards produced specifically for EU Delegations, highlighting a specific angle in relations. They can be uploaded on your website, used in publications or you can get a few hard copies upon request. They exist in relevant languages.
 
Thematic posters: a series of posters produced for EuropeAid that highlight priorities in relations. They can be uploaded on your website, used in publications or get a few hard copies upon request. They exist in relevant languages.
 
ENPI Tube: A collection of videos from different sources that can be used either as they are on your website, at a meeting or at an event, or, from which you can take footage. Includes sections with the Info Centre’s own material, Euromed Magazine by ANSAMED, The EU in the world, EuroMed and EuroEast.
 
Info Centre photo story videos – using photos taken on the ground to create video stories. They can be used as they are or as an example of what you can create with photos.

Quotes pool: statements made by EU officials or EU-funded projects on a policy, a cooperation area, relations with a country, etc. collected by the Info Centre from official sources or our own feature stories. These can be quoted in a speech, in a publication or in the case of journalists used in their news/feature story.

Visibility & Communication guidelines
EU-funded projects are required to respect basic EU visibility rules and acknowledge the funding they receive. This is a basic rule of transparency, but also a sign of respect to those supporting you.
 
FAQ Visibility and Communication: an Info Centre handbook with questions often raised and explaining in a simple way the main rules and requirements in how to refer to the EU funding.
 
 
 
Communication and Visibility Manual for EU External Actions (official): produced by the EU and agreed with other international organisations with which it cooperates in the international arena. It outlines the main requirements and includes a number of templates that can be used as they are or as guidelines, as well as downloadable elements like the flag. On the right hand side on the EuropeAid website, there are some FAQ that may be of help.

The Background
When communicating, you definitely need to know what it is you want to talk about and highlight or promote! You need the background in order to support your claims and messages.
 
+ Library: the key official ENP/ENPI documents collected and available in the original language. The Library is searchable by country, theme, source, policy or date of publication.
+ Features and Interview series: Info Centre production explaining policies and telling the story from the ground, either at EU Headquarters or in the Partner countries. Searchable by country, theme, policy.
