One of the worst mobile news apps
The only reason I use this app is because I love slate writing so much. The problems with the app are endless: sporadic pictures (this includes cool document finds and screenshots of tweets which, when left out, leave an article completely nonsensical), only one out of 50 videos will play, no commenting, no search, and worst of all...barely any of the links work (how is that even possible for a web based magazine?). You guys have been around long enough to fix this, get your act together and I would be willing to pay.
One of the Worst News Site Apps
I hate this app. I used to enjoy reading Slate, but when they redesigned the app a while back they ruined it by removing much of the ability to read while offline. I can sync the NY Times and Wall Street Journal apps in the morning and then read while on my bus commute. Not so with Slate. I also can't email articles to Pocket or Instapaper, where I collect articles to come back to later. I don't want to have to save articles in the Slate app. So that app is still simply not worth the effort for regular reading.
Please fix this app - I want to love it!
I enjoy reading Slate daily at breakfast and the iPad app would be the perfect way to do it. But the image content is frequently missing and the Share on Facebook button never works.
To make it worse, every time I use the fully functional site via Safari I have to cancel past the prompt to use the iPad app!
This app has been out for a couple years now - there's no excuse for this to not be fixed.
