WMO Honorable Global Mediator Contest

Welcome to the WMO Honorable Global Mediator (HGM) Contest. This event takes place every two years. The next contest starts January 1st, 2015.  On this website you may propose an outstanding person to bbe considered for the Ambassador for Peace – WMO Award. By organizing this competition. the WMO wants to highlight the importance of social commitment that puts a sustainable focus on enabling people of different nations, religions, and ethnic groups to live peacefully together.

An HGM candidate must be proposed by a person who is able to outline the candidate’s social contributations to humanity. Therefore, it is necessary to send in a short abstract that explains why the recommended candidate should be considered as a HGM. This explanation will be added to our website. Visitors may vote for the individual person by using the corresponding voting button. The contest will end by December 31st, 2013. The next contest will start January 1st, 2015.

All proposals will be added below and you are free to vote as soon as they appear on our website. The winner receives the corresponding certificate of Honorable Global Mediator - WMO, and will be added to the WMO Roll of Honor. The proposer is responsible to send in the corresponding contact data of the candidate.  Please send us your HGM - Proposal. 1) Oluwo Ifayemi Elebuibon, Araba Awo of Osogboland: Mr. Elebuibon dedicated the last decades of his life the purpose of intercultural understanding and conflict resolution between Muslims, Christians, and Traditionalists in Nigeria. Proposed by Mr. Martin T. - Vote here …

2) Ms. Leah Bolger spent 20 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy and retired in 2000 at the rank of Commander. She is currently a full-time peace activist and serves as the President of Veterans for Peace. Proposed by Mr. Vernon H. - Vote here …

3) Ms. Lisa Gibson is a global conflict consultant, attorney, mediator, public speaker and author. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Peace and Prosperity Alliance which does humanitarian and training programs in developing nations. She has trained leaders in conflict resolution countries like Afghanistan, Libya, Sudan, Egypt and Iraq. Proposed by N.N. - Vote here …

4) Mr. Barnabo Nampoukime is the head of peace keeping missions in western Africa. He received the top honor given to military personnel in Togo for his professional excellence in Negotiation, Mediation and Leadership. Proposed by N.N.  - Vote here …

5) Ms. Ayo Ayoola-Amale's life is centred around teaching peace, youth and community development. She spent over eighteen years  teaching the importance of Peace, Conflict Resolution and the Culture of Peace. "I strongly believe that Ayo Ayoola-Amale should be considered as your AFP because her life makes a difference in the lives of those around her and her work meets critical needs in the community". 6) Sayyid Ibrahimul Khalilul Bukhari established Ma’din Academy at Swalath Nagar in Malappuram. Under his supervision 15,000 students are gaining their education in about 28 institutions ranging from primary to post graduate level. Proposed by Abbas P. - Vote here …



Rick Reilly

7) Rick Reilly has been involved with mediation and dispute resolution for 40 years, in the United States as well as in China, Canada and the UK. Rick was an integral part of the American Arbitration Association for 30 years, and earned a reputation for actively promoting ADR, which he renamed as Appropriate (preferable to Alternative) Dispute Resolution. He has been affiliated with the Community Dispute Settlement Center, Inc. (CDSC) as a pro bono mediator since 1987 and served a tenure on the Board of Directors from 1989 to 1993. Rick received the Community Peacemaker Award from CDSC in 2004.  Vote here …
