I was doing a great search about smallest lenses to use in my nex, so I decided to pick up this lens: Industar 69 28 mm f2.8 and it’s really good this pancake. The Industar-69 28 mm f / 2,8 (Russian: “Индустар”) is a wide-angle fast lens was made for medium format camera Chaika, manufactured in Germany, is a medium format camera 35 mm produced by BelOMO 1965-1974.
The lens is not super sharp but if you compare the compact size and the L39 adapter it’s just a bit longer and narrower than the wide angle, E-mount ,16mm f2.8 so it’s very light , only 64 gr, then you have in your hands a good lens for street photography, gets better results up to f/4, it’s not really sharper like I said before but specially if you like shoot in black and white like me.

Looks like is other great combo on my nex7 or nex5R, nice retro style, with the APS-C sensor on the NEX puts this 28mm lens at about a 42mm equivalent on APS-C camera,the best thing about is the small size, but the bad thing is the ring aperture control is on the front side of the lens, so it’s a bit annoying because you have to use your fingernail or have thin fingers because is too short to change the aperture.
The Industar 69 produced for use with Chaika-2, -2m and Chaika-3 half-frame is a soviet lens made in the late 60′s & early 70′s. This lens has a maximum aperture of f2.8, and closes to f16. The edges & corners are always blurry,some color shifts. Hues of purple & yellow in different areas of the frame. The center sharpness gets better around f4 and peaks at about f8.
There are no stops on the aperture ring, so you have complete flexibility as to how open or closed it is. The aperture is made up of 5 curved blades that create a somewhat rounded pentagon.
Now I hacked this lens to make infinity focus and close as 20 cm, it wasn’t designed for FED/Zorki rangefinder cameras, so the register distance is off and you can’t get infinity focus, so I found this blog, talk about 2 brave folks like Hamish Gill and Brian Sweeney have come up with ways to substantially modify the lens internals to get infinity focus, so I just follow this step and fix it.

But …. for some reason, I love this pancake is likely to be the small size as I’m a street shooter, so don’t bother me the vignettes and blurry edges. Here some pics.

El Industar-69 28 mm f / 2,8 (en ruso: “Индустар”) es un objetivo rápido de gran angular fue hecho para la cámara Chaika de medio formato,fabricado en Alemania, es una cámara de medio formato de 35 mm producido por BelOMO 1965-1974.
Compré esta lente en ebay por unos 50 dólares, y quedé sorprendido con los resultados, en realidad hay muchos 28 mm de gran angular en el mercado que son bastante accesibles, y de gran calidad optica, pero no son mucho más compactas como este panqueque ”Industar-69”, con 64 gr. y casi el mismo tamaño como el gran angular de 16 mm f2.8 de sony.
Se ve muy lindo el estilo retro en la NEX7, es perfecto para la fotografía de calle, mucho más ligero y mucho más compacto. El objetivo utiliza un adaptador M39, y funciona perfecto en enfoque manual, es un poco tedioso para conseguir cambiar la apertura, ya que es un pequeño anillo posicionado en el frontal alrededor de la misma, por lo que usar las uñas con ambos pulgares es más fácil de conseguir con rapidez el enfoque.
La longitud focal de la lente es de 28 mm o aproximadamente 42 mm en el sistema Nex.
La apertura va desde f/2.8 af/16. Las hojas de apertura son rígidos, el único problema que presento fue que no puede enfocar al infinito y por lo tanto si tienes el mismo obejtivo tendrás que modificarlo de alguna manera que permite a los elementos de la lente para estar más cerca del sensor asi podras llegar al infinito, eliminado un aro en el interior del mismo, así que tienes que seguir los siguientes pasos …

Tenemos viñetado en todas las aperturas,hay una presencia de AC, pero esto se puede areglar usando Lightroom o Cs6, estamos hablando de un lente que fue hecho a finales de los 60 y principios de los 70.
La calidad de imagen es muy buena, muy nitida y buen contraste, los bordes y las esquinas son siempre un borrosa. La nitidez en el centro se pone mejor sobre todo en f4 y aun mejor a f8. La construcción es totalmente metálica.
Incluso hay algunos cambios de color en las fotografias. Las tonalidades de púrpura y amarillenta en diferentes zonas de la imagen, pero se puede areglar con el postproceso, pero prefiro usarlo para tiros en blanco y negro.
Pero …. por alguna razón, me encanta este objetivo, es probable que sea de su pequeño tamaño ya que soy un Street shooter, no me molestan los bordes borrosos y viñetas, al contrario me gusta.
