Medicos to fight Aids

KHAMMAM: Students from the local medical college have assured Khammam administration that they would supplement its efforts in combating AIDS and participate in awareness programmes.

Students, speaking at a college-level AIDS awareness programme organised by the Mamata Medical College here on Wednesday along with the NSS unit of the NTR Health University, said that unsafe sexual and clinical practices were the main reasons for the spread of AIDS.

They would fan out to villages for creating awareness among people about the virus.

District collector Aravind Kumar said that only behavioural change could control AIDS and the district administration would launch a series of campaigns beginning next week on this issue.

He said that women SHGs will be involved in the campaign and the slogan 'Let every one talk about AIDS' would be the theme of the campaign.
