Nudists use only $2 bills to prove buying power
LAND O'LAKES, Fla. (AP) -- Nudists in central Florida want to let businesses know just how much money they put into the local economy.
So they're launching a campaign where they'll buy everything with two-dollar bills.
Chuck Foster runs the Caliente Resort in Pasco County. He says nudists want to show merchants how big of an impact they make. The resorts, which are concentrated in Pasco and Osceola counties, bring in more than a hundred-thousand tourists a year.
Foster says they get a lot of feedback. He says many business owners are surprised by how many two-dollar bills show up in their registers.
Harry Wright owns Harry's Bar-B-Que in Land O'Lakes. He says the nudists have money and are willing to spend it. He says that's the best customer there is.
This isn't the first time the nudists have launched a two-dollar bill campaign. They did the same thing more than 25 years ago.
