Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission

Publication History

As an official publication of the U.S. Government since 1881, the Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission is one of the oldest fisheries journals in the world. It publishes original research or interpretative articles in various scientific fields that concern marine fisheries and marine mammal science.

The Bulletin (along with the Fish Commission) has undergone several name changes: Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission (1881-1903), Bulletin of the Bureau of Fisheries (1904-1911), Bulletin of the United States Bureau of Fisheries (1912-1938), Fishery Bulletin of the Fish and Wildlife Service (1941-1970), and Fishery Bulletin of the National Marine Fisheries Service (1971-present).
