Thirty years into his country music career the "King of Country" is showing no signs of giving up his throne. Strait reached a Billboard chart milestone as he made a top 10 hit on the Country Songs survey in an unprecedented 30th consecutive year! No artist in the history of Billboard has had such a lengthy streak of top 10 titles.
The Country Music Hall of Fame singer's most recent song, "I Gotta Get to You" jumped from No. 12 to No. 9 on the radio airplay list. Strait first hit the top 10 on Country Songs in 1981 with "Unwound".
"I Gotta Get to You" marks his 82nd top 10 hit, second only to Eddy Arnold's record 92 hits, which was launched in 1944.
Included in George's count are 44 No. 1's, most by any artist on any Billboard chart! His first No.1 was "Fool Hearted Memory" in 1982. His most recent No.1 was "River of Love" in 2009.
Strait has been certified as the 12th best selling artist in U.S. history, with career album sales of 68.5 million. His current album titled "Twang" has sold 551,000 copies since it's August release.
Way to go George! C):-)
