Birth: | 1379 | Death: | Jun. 9, 1454 | Slovene Folk Figure. He was the son of Herman the Second and his wife Anna. His first wife was Countess Elizabeth of Frankapan. When he met Veronica Desnic he divorced his wife despite his family's disapproval. The couple fled, but were caught by his father. Herman II had Veronica tried as a witch and executed by drowning. After that Frederick was so mad he had Countess Elizabeth murdered which of course led to more conflict. The line of the Celje Counts ended with Frederick's son Ulric being murdered in Belgrade. Frederick and Veronica were the Romeo and Juliet of the region and there are many stories about them. There is even a beer named after the Celje Counts (bio by: girlofcelje (inactive))
