Yahoo tweeted about the Gmail outage — four times in a row

As you may have noticed, Gmail and some other Google apps were briefly down on Friday afternoon. While most of Twitter was panicking, at least one account seemed pretty pleased: Yahoo, which appears to have tweeted not once, but four times in quick succession, about the Gmail outage. While the repeat tweets appear to have since been deleted, the Switch snagged a screengrab showing them all.

Gmail now appears to be back up for most users, so the outage was much, much shorter than the multi-day incident that took down Yahoo Mail for around 1 million users in December.

Google has not yet responded to an inquiry from the Switch about the outage, nor has Yahoo responded to an inquiry about its tweets on the outage. But we'll be sure to update and let you know if either gets back in touch with us.

Update: Yahoo has now apologized for their Gmail tweets (in a tweet)  writing, "Earlier today, a tweet that reflected bad judgment was posted and has been deleted. We apologize to @Google and the @Gmail team."
