The main goal of this AIRBASE is training the personnel for carrying out the assigned missions, as well as taking part, on request, with earmarked forces, in ONU, NATO and OSCE-authorized missions for peace.

General Missions
- Defend the airspace in the area of responsibility;
- Train MIG- 21 LanceR A/G Squadron for CAS missions;
- Train IAR-330 H Squadron for MEDEVAC, SAR, AIRLIFT, RECCE missions;
- Develop flight training programs in order to train new instructors for day and night, all-weather operations;
- Train and improve skills in using ammunition, and maintain/increase the physical and psychological resistance ;

History
Founded on the 17th of June 1920, on Tecuci airport, this air base has been lasted for over 80 years, formerly named Training Center of Aviation and having as a main goal the improvement of the engineers and pilots' training.
In 1924 the Aeronautics' Training Center is set up as a result of a aeronautics' reorganisation process.
After 1945 the Aeronautics' Training Center was reorganised and redeployed operating in Medias, Tecuci and Buzau.
In 1953 it was disbanded, its duties being transfered to other training establishments.
In 1968 the Training Center of Aviation was reborn on Bacau Airfield, following a rich learning tradition of the military aeronautics.
Since the 1st of January 1969, the Training Center of Aviation effectively has trained the young pilots in navigation on MiG-21 aircraft and improved the military aviation personnel training for different positions, and at the same time carrying out missions specific for a fighting air base.
Along this period base's teaching staff have provided the training knowledge for over 500 fighter pilots and improved the specific professional training of over 6000 of the military personnel.
The 95th Air Base was founded on the 25th of August 1995 having as purposes the support of the 95th Fighter Group training. It was also supported the MiG-21 "LanceR" searching and testing flight at "Aerostar" Company.
From the 1st of May 2001, until the 1st of July 2004, during the military reorganization process, on Bacau the Supersonic Training Center operated, keeping on the tradition of training the young pilots, according the MIG-21 LanceR program.
Since 1st of July 2004, the 95th Air Base has been reborn on Bacau .

Since 1997, the year of MIG-21 Lancer's birth, the air base participated with pilots, engineers and airplanes in the following exercises:
