Society trades as Central England Co-operative

Following the legal merger of Midlands Co-operative and Anglia Co-operative on 1 December 2013, the Society is adopting the new name "Central England Co-operative" from Saturday, 25 January 2014.

The new name, which was voted for by members, marks the start of a new era for the Society which is one of the largest and most successful UK co-operatives with projected gross sales of £1 billion and operating across 16 counties from the heart of England to its eastern shores.

Central England Co-operative was chosen as the Society’s new name following a series of focus groups and an online members’ poll which culminated in the preferred naming option being put to a member vote on Wednesday, 15 January at a special members’ meeting. The meeting resulted in just over 99% of members voting in favour of adopting the name.
