The Cover Looks Good... - 65%

ThrashGordon, May 12th, 2005

While Dog Day Sunrise certainly isn't the best song off of Demanufacture it isn't the worst either, if only because it is one of the few songs on the album that really shakes things up and sounds a lot different to the rest of the tracks. For those who are unaware the reason it sounds so different to the typical Fear Factory fare is because it is a cover originally done by Head Of David and here on this single there are two versions, the one found on the album and another version which is slightly shorter but that's the only difference as far as I can tell. The other tracks on this CD are a remixed version of Replica known as the 'Electric Sheep Mix', now I don't know what the hell that is supposed to mean but it is essentially the same song from Demanufacture with some effects on Burton's voice. The classic version is better but this is a CD single so I guess the album version would be pretty pointless considering every man and his dog must know that song by now. The make-or-breakness of any CD single is the quality of the unreleased track and this time it's a track called 'Concreto' which is an old song which would later be released as 'Concrete' on the album of the same name however it was recorded during the Demanufacture sessions and didn't find it's way on the album and as with a lot of unreleased songs it's pretty unspectacular. Essentially for the die-hard FF fan who has everything else. Did I mention it has a pretty cool cover...?
