Eszter PERÉNYI (President of the Jury)

She graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music as the student of Dénes Kovács. She had numerous successful appearances in Hungarian and international competitions where she won prizes several times. She has been giving concerts all over the world, she makes recordings for radio and television stations, and CDs as well, and often performs works of contemporary composers. Since 1975 she has been a teacher at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, now she is the head of the String Department. Many of her students have successfully performed at national and international competitions. She has been asked several times to hold lectures in Hungary and abroad, as well as to be jury member at various famous competitions. She was decorated with the Liszt Prize and with other state prizes of the Hungarian Republic. In 2002 she was given the “Bartók-Pásztory Prize". Recently in 2007 she received the title of Excellent Artist.

 
Sándor DEVICH

He graduated as a violinist at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. From 1957 he played second violin in the Bartók String Quartet for twentyfive years. (Concert activities in all European countries, USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Hong-Kong, the Philippines and Singapore) 1981: UNESCO Prize. Since 1981 he teaches chamber music at the Ferenc Liszt Academy – from 2005 as a „Professor emeritus” –, conducting, giving master classes and lectures (Greece, England, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Austria, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland). He was  invited to be a member of the jury at several international competitions: Evian, Rome, Leoben, Melbourne, Banff, St. Petersburg, Gorizia, Weimar, Jesenik, Genoa, Geneva, and Brno.
Publications: Sonatas and partitas by J. S. Bach, Corelli-sonatas, Paganini’s Barucaba variations, Concertos by Mozart and Rieding, Bartók duos. Transcriptions: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, Bartók. Book: ”What is string quartet?”. Essays: ”Pizzicato, syncopation and behavior”, ”Neither too much, nor too little…” (About the function and importance of the first beat in the bar), ”Thoughts and dreams in E minor” (about a Mozart-sonata), ”Ligature or bowing?” Recordings: complete Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bartók (string quartets and other chamber music with the Bartók Quartet), Mendelssohn Octet, Schonberg Verklär te Nacht (viola).
 
Roswitha RANDACHER
 

was born in Vienna and studied violin in Vienna, Moscow and Paris, also with H. Szeryng and N. Milstein. She has won prizes in international competitions in London (C.Flesch), Genua (N. Paganini) and Montreal.
Frequent solo appearances with renowned orchestras such as the Wiener Symphoniker, RSO Vienna, RSO Berlin, Dresdener Philharmonie, Hungarian Philharmonie. Performances with prominent musicians including H. Wallberg, G. Herbig, M. Atzmon, J. Ferenczik, St. Vladar, Ph. Entremont. TV, Radio and CD productions. Guest appearances at Festivals in Vienna, Salzburg, Ljubljana, Montreux. Professor of Violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

Itzhak RASHKOVSKY
 
Internationally renowned violinist and pedagogue. As Professor of Violin at the Royal College of Music, London, Itzhak Rashkovsky has come to be one of the leading and most sought-after teachers in England. His students, who come from all over the world to study with him, have been winners of many national and international competitions. Itzhak Rashkovsky has given masterclasses in Europe, Israel, Canada, USA and has been juror of numerous international competitions, notably Vice chairman of the jury of the Twelveth Henryk Wieniawski (Poland), Sion Valais (Switzerland), Yampolsky (Russia) and Premio Rodolfo Lipizer (Italy) International Violin Competitions.
One of the founders and Music Director of Keshet Eilon Violin Mastercourse, Israel, an international summer program for exceptionally talented young violinists, located in Kibbutz Eilon, as well as Associate Director of Pro Corda, the National School for Young Chamber Music Players, England.  In 1998,  in recognition of his outstanding services to music, Itzhak Rashkovsky was awarded by The Prince of Wales a Fellowship of the Royal College of Music.
 
Angel STANKOV
 

Graduated from the Bulgarian State Music Academy and specialised in London under M. Parikian and Y. Neaman. As a soloist, chamber music player, former concert master of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor, he represents Bulgarian culture in all parts of the world. He has been a Professor in the Sofia State Music Academy Pancho Vladigerov since 1996 (since 1999 Deputy Rector). He has performed in most European countries, the USA, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Cuba and in halls such as the Carnegie Hall, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Moscow Conservatory Hall or the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Together with his long-standing violin duo partner Y. Radionov he has won numerous prizes for example at the International Chamber Music Festa in Osaka ’93. He has made many recordings for CD, radio and television. In 2003 A. Stankov taught violin at the North Carolina School of  the Arts. He has served as jury member for a number of competition such as the Concert Diploma Competition at the Guildhall School in London, the Kloster Schwenthal Violin Competition and Maria Judina Chamber Music Competition St.Petersburg. Recently he gave master classes at the University of Nevada and at the Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar.
