A must see when in Madrid. One of Europe's greatest art collections. Ask at your hotel, there are some days in the week when entry is free!

We slipped in an afternoon visit on our last day in Madrid. I wish we had skipped the other 2 galleries and spent all our time here! I would come back to this beautiful art gallery in a heart beat (if I could). There is only one gallery you must see in Madrid- this is it!!

The best Goya, Velazquez, H. Bosch, Durer . But also a lot of insignificant pictures that made the visit strenuous . Not a good lighting of some pictures.

Entering the museum is not as obvious as it should be. The ticket office is on the side and the entrance is in, what would appear to be the rear of the building. Once inside, there are several choice to be made, ie tours, audio or personal. We opted for the 50 Euros/hour personally guided tour, hitting some of the... More

The Prado museum is like many other main capital city museums - it's huge, and if you're interested in big, religious paintings filling room after room, then it's for you. My wife and I found it a bit overwhelming and, after a couple of hours, we began to tire of the repetitive religious theme - and we also found the... More

The museum itself is incredible, and the location is also just fantastic. Whether you are an art lover or not, it is impossible not to appreciate the sheer quantity and quality of famous paintings. It is also just incredibly cool to see how the art is displayed. Plan at least a couple of hours to visit. Of course, that will... More

Excellent exposition, many great masterpieces. One of the world museums must to see. I would go there again in case we visit Madrid in the future. Good educational experience for kids.

Absolutely fantastic! Very big collection of art: Goya, Rubens, El greco, and many more..... For art lovers this is a paradise. Even if you go there with the children, they will not be bored. I recommend buying a ticket on the internet beforehand to avoid the waiting.

Of course visit here. As tired as we were (as it is rather large) we stayed until we saw everything. It is large but able to be seen in one day. A great collection not to be missed.

The Prado is a must when in Madrid. Our hotel was within 10 minutes walking distance. We opted for a guide, (50 €-) expensive but we are not familiar with Greco or Velasquez' works. Great investment! The first painting in the long gallery to the right is AMAZING! From all views the painting "moves" with your view. Without a guide... More
