Dr Christopher Anthony Matthew - School of Arts & Sciences - NSW (Faculty of Arts and Sciences)
Fully accredited supervisor - Can supervise as principal supervisor
Christopher graduated with first class honours from the University of New England in 2006 where I focused on the study of ancient Greek and Roman warfare and completed a research thesis on the impacts of the reforms made to the Roman military by the general Gaius Marius. I then moved to Macquarie University in Sydney where I completed a PhD in 2009 using physical re-creation, experimental archaeology and ballistics testing to examine the mechanics of warfare in ancient Greece, particularly how the equipment of the infantryman of the time dictated his role and functionality on the battlefield. This research has been very well received and he is regarded as a leading authority on ancient Greek warfare.
