Did you make it to this year's Tokyo Game Show? Me neither. Many people thought this year's Tokyo Game Show would be scaled back because of natural disasters taking place in Japan. Much to my surprise, the event turned out to be quite the spectacle and most crowded TGS since 2006. Luckily, we had a photographer on the scene to capture every moment and more importantly, every boothbabe. Check out our TGS show floor photo gallery.

Our Tokyo Game Show Cosplay Photo Gallery is legit too.

TGS 2010: Ninja Gaiden 3 Announced, Concept Art Revealed

Our pro-in-Tokyo Heidi Kemps sat down with Team Ninja's super shinobi Yosuke Hayashi on the floor of the Tokyo Game Show this week and got the inside scoop on Ninja Gaiden 3. Read our interview below.

G4: The dismemberment system from Ninja Gaiden I and II isn’t present in NG3. Does this have anything to do with Japan’s notoriously strict CERO rating system?

Hayashi: There are different rules for what we can and can’t do under undertain ratings in different territories, but that didn’t play a part in the decisions we made. We have a sense of violence and brutality we want to show in this game, and we feel like it really doesn’t need that sort of thing. We wanted to focus on what it actually feels like to have to kill someone with a sword. Once you start hacking limbs off, the enemy goes from being a human being to just being a plaything, taking that feeling away. We want the violence to feel human and personal, rather than having these characters be mere objects to be chopped up. We’re going in a different direction now, and we feel the old dismemberment system simply doesn’t work with that.

Square Enix has localized the two Final Fantasy 13-2 Tokyo Game Show trailers in to English. The first video reveals how Serah meets Noel, as well as introduces the game's antagonists. The end of the video is pretty surprising, and I can't wait to figure out what's going on in the game. The second trailer, which you'll find after the break, gives us a bit more insight in to what's going to be happening in FF 13-2 as well as how a few familiar faces will look in the new game. Both trailers also feature the game's new international theme song "New World" by Charice in the background.

Street Fighter X Tekken

As we learn more about Street Fighter X Tekken we get more and more intrigued with the title. Our latest preview, from Tokyo Game Show, gave us the opportunity to check out the newly introduced fighter Rolento, as well as the game's new Pandora mechanic.

"The Pandora system is a feature that can be activated by double-tapping down and pressing MP+MK when one of your characters has under 25% health. It effectively allows you to sacrifice the ability to call in your partner, but gives you unlimited super meter. There are serious drawbacks beyond losing your partner’s assistance, however: Pandora only lasts for a limited time, and if you’re not able to knock out the opponent’s team within this time period, you lose the round automatically."

Armored Core 5 Screenshots From Japan -- Mech On Mech Action

Our Heidi Kemps got the opportunity to chat with Armored Core 5's producer Toshifumi Nabeshiba the Tokyo Game Show. Get the inside scoop on the new game below.

G4: There haven’t been as many mech games being made in Japan as of late, it seems. Does this bother you at all?

Nabeshiba: I hear that sort of question a lot. We’re spending a lot of development time on AC5. It’s still in the mech genre, of course, but we’re trying to broaden its appeal beyond just being a “mech game.” The multiplayer elements in play here are particularly robust. We think – and hope – that players embrace this more as an action game… except you’re driving a mech. It’s more than a mech game.

Blades of Time

Konami's new action/adventure title Blades of Time may be flying under-the-radar, but that doesn't mean it isn't shaping up to be a solid game. Check out our preview from the Tokyo Game Show 2011.

"Besides the FPS elements, this all sounds like a pretty pedestrian 3D hack-n-slasher so far. But there were some interesting bits that Fujii was keen to emphasize. The first was Ayumi’s dash skill. Ayumi has unlimited use of a speedy dashing attack that she can use to close in the distance between herself and a foe, or use as a means to travel between one location to the next. We saw this demonstrated when strange, ethereal pillars appeared in the sky in our snow-covered trial stage. With a few button presses, Ayumi had locked onto the objects and was dashing between them, allowing her to reach an area tha was previously inaccessible. Fujii also highlighted another clever stage design that focused heavily on the dashing mechanic."

Soul Calibur 5 Announced By Namco Bandai -- Get Ready To Fight In 2012

At the Tokyo Game Show this week, Heidi Kemps got the chance to sit down and speak with Soul Calibur 5's producer Hisaharu Tago about some of the fan trepidation surrounding system changes and the jump in time. Check out the interview below.

G4: Recently there was a preview with a very famous player named Kayane, who shared her impressions of the game and showcased some of the system changes. There was something of a backlash among longtime SC fans to some of these alterations, however. Do you think they might be jumping the gun, or do you think their concern is warranted?

Tago: I think people are focusing too much on changes to individual systems. If you look at the overall picture, everything is being done to create a more balanced experience overall. There will be differences, yes. I feel that the game is a fine product and a competitive, balanced game, so I don’t think there should be anything for players to worry too much about.

Capcom's Captivate Event Roundup: Street Fighter X Tekken, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Asura's Wrath, Dragon's Dogma, And More

We've already shown you some first impressions on Capcom's ambitious Next-Gen Action/RPG Dragon's Dogma. Now get a more in depth look at some key features in the game - the pawn and character creation system.

"We continued along in our demo, looking for a Strider class pawn to balance out our warrior/mage party. After finding our new teammate – a somewhat heavy-set female – we made use of a teleport item to get to where we needed to go. You can set these teleport items across the world and make use of them to easily zip from one locale to the next, which, the staff noted, would be extremely important. It would have taken 15 minutes in realtime to get from town to our destination on foot, which would have been several hours of in-game time – but with clever item placement, we got to where we needed to go in a jiffy."

Be sure to check out our full Dragon's Dogma Preview Pawn and the Character Creation systems.

Some custom PlayStation Vita colors were revealed at the Tokyo Game Show; apparently black is not the only color that will be available for Sony's new handheld. No announcement has been made as to whether or not these custom colors will be available at release or at a later date, but one can hope. I was just telling a co-worker that I'd love a white PSV, so I'm happy to see one on display in this quick video from CVG.

The PlayStation 3 consoles on display are only coming out in Japan as of now, so hopefully that won't be the case with these rainbow Vitas. Which was your favorite color?

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

At the Tokyo Game Show this week, Heidi Kemps spent some time hanging out with Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada and got the inside word on upcoming arcade game Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and the state of fighting games as a whole. Check out the interview below.

G4: The arcade version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is on the cusp of worldwide release. One area that seems to be of concern to fans of the original TTT is the inclusion of walls in the combat, which were not present in the original game.

Harada: This is actually something we put a lot of thought into from the very beginning of the project. At point we actually thought the situation with the walls might prove bad enough that a Tekken Tag sequel wouldn’t even be feasible. But, as you may have seen in footage from the game, we’ve seen that it actually works pretty well if the characters jump in and jump out over the wall. You might see some areas where you have both your characters onscreen getting smashed up near the wall, and it might look over the top, but the timing is actually quite detailed as to how long they remain there and when they can return. All that has been carefully calculated.

Keep reading for the full interview.

Tekken 3D

We got the chance to go hands-on with a brief demo of Tekken 3D Prime at the Tokyo Game Show. Trying to follow suit with the successful Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Tekken 3D Prime is faithful translation of the beloved Tekken brand in to handheld form.

"Perhaps more important than graphical flourishes is the core fighting gameplay, and Tekken 3D Prime Edition delivers an authentic Iron Fist experience. Movement and directional input can be accomplished with either the analog slider or the d-pad, and the button layout will feel instantly familiar to Tekken pad-players. An exclusive addition tailored for the 3DS are pre-programmed command sequences that can be activated by touching one of four panels on the bottom screen. It was hinted that players by be able to program these combos themselves, making access to a damaging string as easy as a finger swipe."

Be sure to read our full Tekken 3D Prime preview from the Tokyo Game Show.
