A Carnival Education
Carnival presents an endless platform to stimulate learning and facilitate skills development. As a force for change and empowerment UKCCA places carnival education at the core of everything that we are and do.
Our education offer is split in to three growing programmes:
Our Schools Programme provides local support and a variety of different activities that embeds carnival and carnival arts into the different aspects of curriculum development. If you would like to enquire about our schools programme, please email maggie@carnivalarts.org.uk or kath@carnivalarts.org.uk
Our Community Programme is about encouraging everyone to participate in and experience a range of arts forms that, individually are unique and, collectively are carnival. We have regular activities going on in the Centre as well as our Digital Academy Programme for young people.
Our Professional Development Programme provides a series of Masterclasses, led by artists, to support the skills development of everyone in the carnival sector. These Masterclasses seek to ensure best practice to support carnival artists in creating the most innovative and professional arts, whilst also providing artists with the skills to teach future generations.
Our Residency Programme is a new initiative to give opportunities to create new work and develop their professional practice in carnival. The scheme provides financial support of between £500 and £2,000 to enable access to UKCCA’s professional workshop space and facilities as well as support for individually proposed activities. The programme encourages cross-sector learning, sharing, collaboration and innovation to build a forward-looking carnival sector. For more information, visit the Residency Programme pages.
