Municipal Aggregation

Welcome to Chicago's Electricity Aggregation Program

Municipal aggregation uses the group purchasing power of residents to help cities negotiate lower prices on electricity bills, and potentially cleaner energy sources.

Over 200 Illinois communities have already used aggregation to capture savings for residents and small businesses.

On Nov. 6th, Chicago voters approved a referendum authorizing the City to seek lower electricity rates for residential and small business ratepayers. After receiving prices and service qualifications from retail electric suppliers, the City negotiated an agreement with Integrys Energy Services, Inc., that is providing lower monthly electricity bills for residents and small businesses.

Eligible City of Chicago customers were automatically enrolled in the program unless they opted out by January 9, 2013. Once enrolled in the program, however, City of Chicago customers can still leave at any time and will never have to pay any fees associated with joining or leaving the program.

Three things you should know:

✓ If you did not opt out, you were automatically enrolled in the City's program and will save about 21%. Integrys will continue to send opt out letters around 4 times a year to customers who have recently opened accounts with ComEd, ensuring that every customer has an opportunity to opt out before being enrolled.

✓ ComEd will continue sending monthly bills, responding to outages, and delivering electricity.

✓ No one from the City's program will ever come to your door to ask you to switch to a new supplier.  Anyone who does come to your door is not with the City program.
