Microbiology and Pathology
From April 2013 HPA is part of Public Health England.
PHE carries out a broad spectrum of work relating to prevention of infectious disease.
This work includes specialist and reference microbiology and microbial epidemiology, quality assurance, co-ordinating the investigation and cause of national and uncommon disease outbreaks, helping advise government on the risks posed by various infections and responding to international health alerts.
