Moms and sons will play a variety of sports and games at the Mom and Son Sport Night on March 7 at the Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield.

There will be some friendly competition and a great workout for moms and their sons, ages 4-10, at Sport Night, 6:30-8:15 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Sachs Recreation Center, 455 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield.

Ginny Wiemerslage, Deerfield Park District recreation supervisor, said the event starts with “ease-in activities.” Basketballs and soccer balls are out for participants to use.

“Then I’ll have little warm-up games,” Wiemerslage reported. “They might have questions to answer about athletes, because the theme is sports. The main part of the evening is spent in the Bulls gym.”

Activities include obstacle courses, fitness challenges, dodgeball and camp-variation games—all in pairs. There will be prizes and giveaways, and the moms and sons will create a treat for themselves.

Participants are encouraged to wear team jerseys, either for a professional team or the child’s team.

The cost is $12 per person for residents, $18 for nonresidents. Advance registration is required.
