No matter how ugly Ted Nugent’s rhetoric got, the repugnant rocker couldn’t seem to say anything that earned him condemnation from leaders in the Republican Party. But he went too far even for them in an interview last month with guns.com:

I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel like the Acorn community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America.

As the cheat sheet shows, Nugent never fails to offend. His foul mouth has targeted President Obama, the Supreme Court, Trayvon Martin, Hillary Clinton and anyone he believes is out to take his guns. And he’s not shy about playing the victim.

Nugent’s endorsement of Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential campaign received a woo-hoo from Tagg Romney. Last year, Nugent was a guest of Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Tex.), with nary an eyebrow raised from the statesmen of the GOP, at the State of the Union address. At least, Nugent’s “subhuman mongrel� slur of the president (for which he barely apologized Friday) loosened Republican tongues long enough to distance themselves from him and his comment. “Beyond the pale,� said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). “I got a problem calling the president a mongrel,� said Texas Gov. Rick Perry. “That is an inappropriate thing to say.�

This ought not be their last time smacking down the crazy on their right flank.
