The Dutch Rock group Bløf travelled the world for their Umoja project in 2005-2006. One of the countries they visited was Bhutan in 2005. The Bløf musicians worked with Jigme Drukpa on the music for the song ‘een manier om thuis te komen – a way of coming home’ in Wangdue Phudrang Dzong.
The Band gave two concerts in Thimphu. One of the concerts was held at at the central clock tower square and attracted more then 10.000 visitors. It outnumbered all previous concerts ever performed in Bhutan.
The Bhutan song became one of the most popular songs of the Umoja album, is played frequently acoustically by Paskal Jacobs, the singer of the band and also became the title of Bløf’s first cinema movie. The journey to Bhutan inspired the band members to issue the pictorial book: Bløf in Bhutan, Rockin’ the Himalayan Kingdom.
Bhutan+partners connected Bløf to Jigme Drukpa and organized all the logistics for the band members and their crew to travel and work in Bhutan with the Bhutanese musician. Henk de Jong, bhutan+partners, assisted Bløf during their stay in Bhutan and made arrangements for the concerts, supported by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Bhutan+partners made all arrangements for Jigme Drupa and Dorji Wangchuk – Director of the documentary ‘Rocking the Himalayan Kingdom’ to attend the premiere of the film ‘Een manier om Thuis te komen’ at the 9th edition of the international film festival by the sea in The Netherlands in 2006.
Bhutan+partners assisted Bløf with the editing of the book: Bløf in Bhutan – Rocking’ the himalayan Kingdom’.
