Photos released of 2 charged in ODU student's death

NORFOLK Police have released photos of two men charged in the death of an Old Dominion University student on Sunday. Christopher Chase Johnson, 20, is charged with misdemeanor assault and was released on Thursday on a $1,500 secured bond. David William Grimm Jr., 21, was arrested earlier this week by Prince William County police on a charge of second-degree murder.

NORFOLK The city has provided video and the detective case file of a fatal shooting at the Ghent Wells Fargo to the family of the man who was killed by a police officer. The video and documents came in response to a subpoena by John Cooper, a lawyer for the family of Joshua “Omar” Johnson.

Judge declares mistrial in Norfolk Rite Aid slaying

A jury could not reach a verdict, leading to a mistrial Thursday in the case of Bernell Benn, who maintained that he shot and killed another man in self-defense after an argument at a Rite Aid drugstore.

HRT set to raise fares more slowly than proposed

NORFOLK The region’s transit agency approved a fare increase Thursday for bus, light rail and ferry services that will raise prices more slowly than previously proposed.

Family of slain ODU student offers thanks for help

NORFOLK The parents of the Old Dominion University student who was assaulted and killed just off campus over the weekend thanked the ODU community and police for their support Thursday. They also thanked the students who witnessed the attack and helped police find the men now charged with assaulting their son.

Admirals start homestand with win over Charlotte

NORFOLK Viktor Fasth gave up a goal on the first shot he saw Wednesday night, a blue-line blast by Charlotte's Philippe Cornet. Fasth gave up another goal on the 22nd shot he saw, a puck that glanced in off the Checkers' Brett Sutter with 3:12 to play. In between, Fasth turned back 20 shots, and then he added two more saves late in the Admirals' 3-2 win at Scope.
