ACLU deputy legal director complains of “Islamophobia” and government profiling of Muslims

While the government can’t retreat quickly enough into total fantasy regarding Islamic jihad activity, for the hard Leftists and Islamic supremacist collaborators at the ACLU, they’re still not moving fast enough.

“ACLU deputy sees national security extremes becoming entrenched,” by Steve Fidel for KSL.com, October 30 (thanks to David):

WEST VALLEY CITY “”The deputy legal director for the ACLU believes post-9/11 security policies specifically target Muslims, and that the intelligence community has taken training cues from bigots, not experts.

And unlike the era where Japanese Americans were detained in camps during World War II, he sees detainment, surveillance and other infringement policies staying in the extreme in the decade following 9/11 becoming “the new normal.”

“While President Obama uses the rhetoric of human rights, his administration is continuing to become more entrenched,” said Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director for the ACLU and director of the ACLU’s Center for Democracy, which houses the agency’s work on national security; human rights; and speech, privacy and technology.

Jaffer spoke Saturday night at the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake’s Khadeeja Islamic Center.

He urged Muslims to vote and participate in public events, including demonstrations, but said they should not band together as Muslim or Arabic-sponsored groups to oppose government or societal injustices. “Choose something less selfish” rather than representing a Muslim bloc. “You have to think of other people’s rights” as well, he said.

That would be something new.

Jaffer credited the Obama administration for releasing memos that discussed and sanctioned torture among detainees in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp after 9/11, but suggested President Obama spent considerable political capital in doing that, setting him at odds with the CIA specifically and the intelligence community as a whole.

He suggested presidents’ effect on human rights issues, in the arena of national security, can be limited by the fact a successful president may be in office eight years, but the mindset moves on a different track within the CIA and FBI, where careers can last 30 years.

He said Muslims have balked at careers in the United States’ intelligence community because training materials have labeled Islam as incompatible with democracy. He believes FBI training materials for at least the past decade have drawn on the expertise of bigots, not individuals with expertise in Middle East culture. “And I suspect the CIA’s training materials are worse.”…

I wouldn’t worry, Jaffer.

  1. The deputy legal director for the ACLU believes post-9/11 security policies specifically target Moslems…

If this is true, if Janet’s public warnings about disgruntled war vets was just a ruse, then I am encouraged.

    Warfare is ordained for you.

But that would never happen. Makes too much sense.

The false comparison between Mohammedans and Japanese-Americans continues to be exploited. This is a conflation of a visible minority with a political ideology cum “religion.”

While Western society has advanced to the point where it rightfully rejects bias based upon physcial attributes, it must protect bias based upon behavioral attributes. Openess to criminality is never a virtue and must never become normative.

It is therefore entirely justifiable to profile criminals based upon their past behavior and stated objectives. If criminals don’t like to be called criminals, then let them truly and demonstrably foreswear criminal behavior as defined in a legal code founded upon indivudal human rights and dignity.

It wasn’t enough for this Canadian Muslim to get invited to the White House for an iftar dinner, it seems. This calls to mind Lenin’s dictum:

Probe with the bayonet: if you meet steel, stop. If you meet mush, then push.

  4. Mackie says:

Jaffer ,ls a Canadian who has gone after the “Patriot Act” with some success, but later on a federal court invalidated a lower courts rulings that had previously favored Jaffers constitutional challenge.

Jaffer is also known for getting a visa for Tariq Ramadan a couple of year ago successfully of which Robert Spencer has written about.

It was Jaffer that gave legal advice to the Eric Holder’s DOJ after he was invited to a Ramadan dinner at the White House by Obama in an effort to investigate DOD and CIA interrogation techniques.

Muslims are the only religion that poses a major security risk, so we have every right to keep a close watch on them. I doubt whether the Russians or Chinese allow the same extent of infiltration and subversion we have seen in the West: http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/muslim-subversion-sedition-and-social.html

Islam is incompatible with humanity, and we won’t stop until this satanic cult is completely annihilated. Islam will end up where it really belongs to; the dustbin of history.
This is Islam, because THIS is the founder of Islam.

It is interesting to note that once again the ACLU is solely batting for either a leftist cause or one allied with it,one from the axis of the anti-conservative-muslim alliance. Their now well established prejudice and bias renders their acronym, ACLU, now meaningless unless you substitute the L from liberties to leftist. The days when their moral compass was aligned in the direction of justice and right irrespective of political leaning are long gone. The ACLU has become a pure ideological tool of the left crippled in ts capacity to embrace the rights of all not just the ideological body they now have become.

And ACLU/CAIR’s stance on the murdering of homosexuals in Iran and by palestinians in gaza is….????????

    BTW
CAIR-canada has had ties the the USA CAIR even if they deny it, Sheema Khan tried to impose Shariah Law on canadian soil for muslims females and female infindels by-proxy in the workplace and schools as CAIR demands more Mosques in public schools and halal lunchrooms for workers.

People are getting sick of the endless whines by islamists and supremacy thugs speaking for allah and muhammed.
Dr.Sheema Khan is on a TVO debate show trying to tell canadians that Shariah law give more rights to females than our Charter of Rights, and that “Just because Shariah has not work in any islamic nation or under muslim rule in the past 1200 years, it does mean that it can’t work in canada today if implimented properly “.

Nice one Khan, muhammed invented a car that has never worked in any application other than on paper , or in the last 1400 years, but somehow I’m supposed accept that the car will work in canada if the factory is built correctly and the owners have the True-manuals to operate the car the right way so it starts and keeps working and doesn’t get users killed.
Sorry Khan, the onus is on you and islam
to prove it and then give us a real expample of just 1 muslim nation that gives rights to gays and femists, or allows Unions and legal Courts with Judges and Lawyers that protect the publics Rights and Liberties.

  9. Kepha says:

Well, it sure isn’t Scandinavian-descended Lutherans from Minnesota and the Dakota or African-American Baptists who have been planning terror attacks.

I wonder if Roger Baldwin would have dared to to have publicly hoped to see the last senator strangled with the guts of the last mullah?

  10. From the article –

“He said Muslims have balked at careers in the United States’ intelligence community because training materials have labeled Islam as incompatible with democracy.”

Hey, did I hear that right? Let’s just run that through again.

‘Muslims have balked at careers in the United States intelligence community”.

If they really ARE backing off, then …GOOD. I wish even more of them would be put off. Cuts down just a tiny bit on the subversion factor.

Given the amount of infiltration and subversion by Mohammedans that appears to be afflicting just about every part of society- police force, army, government at all levels, the civil service, etc. – all over the non-Muslim world (and I include not only ‘the West’ in that, but places like India, Thailand, Philippines, and assorted majority-Christian African countries), let’s just be thankful for small mercies.

  11. Vlasta Molak says:

Sharia and Islam ARE incompatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and therefore many Muslims countries that are members of UN had never signed it. All those countries who still refuse to follow this human rights declaration should not be a member of the family of human societies!

Whitewashing of Islam has become very fashionable among some segments of politically correct society based mostly on ignorance of Koranic verses and Hadith with its explicit Jew-hating and Christian-dissing suras and hate of “infidels”. The reason that we see so many domestic Jihadists who grew up in free countries like Canada and USA is that they learn their hatred of the Jews, Christians and infidels from the wholly books of Islam, Koran and Hadith. It is Islam itself, stupid! Islam needs reformation very badly if Muslims want to be accepted into our tolerant society as other religions, and if they want to live peacefully rather then mislead their young men into the Jihad against the Western cultures.

  12. Shawmut says:

Is it Islamo – PHOBIA or PHILIA?
Frankly, I’m more concerned about empassioned Islamophilia leading to a fatal social disease.

Oh, Yes; About the term “phobia”. It suggests fear, doesn’t it. How about some faith to overcome fear.
The opposition are suggesting our fear – though they should be on the defensive.
