Grants

The UK Programme provides grants to enable persecuted academics to return to academia, or an allied profession, in the UK at a level commensurate with their skills and experience. We can support requalification courses (academic/professional) or structured work placements and associated costs, including tuition fees, travel, registration fees, exam fees, bench fees, books, research costs, IT equipment, childcare etc.

If you believe you are eligible, please contact CARA to request an Enquiry Formwhich once completed and returned, will allow us to verify your eligibility (If you are not eligible, please check the 'Advice, Guidance & Signposting' section of our website).

Once the UK Programme has confirmed your eligibility, and you have an offer on a suitable course/placement, we will invite you to complete a full Application Form.

Application Process

On receipt of a complete Application Form (incl. supporting documents) we will invite you to an informal interview to assess your needs and gain further detail on your application. All information gathered from your application and interview will be collated by CARA staff and submitted to CARA's Allocation Committee. The Allocation Committee is responsible for all decisions relating to the allocation of CARA grants.

Allocation Committee Meeting

The deadline for applications to our Allocation Committee Meeting on Thursday 26th June 2014 has now passed.  Outcomes will be announced in mid-July.

Any new applications received will be assessed and held on file.  The date for the next Allocation Committee Meeting is under discussion, but will likely take place in 2015.
