JOPLIN, MO--- Joplin City Management appoints a new leader for the police department.
Jason Burns will serve as the next police chief. Burns is currently the assistant chief and has been on the force in Joplin since 1996. Current Police Chief Lane Roberts announced his retirement last week and will officially step down on March 28th. Burns will take over responsibilities on March 29th.
