Porto manager, Paulo Fonseca has decided to promote Flying Eagles invitee Mikel Agu to the first team following the injury to Ferdinand.
This move is not a short-term solution as the manager plans to retain him in the squad for future matches.
20-year-old Mikel Agu has made 23 appearances for the B Team of Porto, which campaigns for honors in the second - tier , this season with his only goal coming against Moreirense last Tuesday.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, the highly rated starlet can also be handy in central defence.
Mikel had attracted interest from Portimonense in the winter transfer market but the Porto brass refused to sanction the move.
