The much-awaited film Bombay Talkies, which is already the talk of the town, now boasts of another unique feat.
From the ruling Khans — Shah Rukh, Aamir and Saif — to Bollywood divas like Madhuri, Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee, as many as 20 stars have come together for a special song in the film, which celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema.
Others who will feature in the song are Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.
According to media reports the actors had to follow a strict dress code for the song. While the men had to wear black tuxedos, the ladies wore golden outfits.
The song titled Apna Bombay talkies has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant and has been sung by 20 singers.
According to media reports, it is for the first time that 20 singers have come together for one song. The title track has been sung by some of the most renowned singers in the industry.
Another interesting point is that the singers have recorded for those actors whom they generally lend their voices to in their movies.
Some of the prominent singers, who have sung the track, are Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, SP Balasubramaniam, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sudesh Bhonsle, Shreya Ghosal, Shilpa Rao, Udit Narayan, KK and Sukhwinder Singh.
The song has taken over a month to be shot as all the actors shot independently for their parts.
Bombay Talkies is a collection of four short films by four filmmakers — Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Karan Johar. The movie, slated for May 3 release, will also be screened at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival this year.
