Mirna Jukic Dominates Austria Championships -- February 10, 2008

LINZ, Austria, February 10. DURING the long course Austria Championships held in Linz this weekend, Mirna Jukic dominated the meet with five triumphs.

Jukic swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 50 (32.72), 100 (1:09.40) and 200 (2:26.31), while also claiming titles in the 100 back (1:06.30) and 200 IM (2:15.98) for good measure.

In other events, Jordis Steinegger could not be touched in a freestyle race longer than 200 meters. She touched first in the 200 (2:03.19), 400 (4:16.98), 800 (9:07.32) and 1500 (17:10.21) to garner four titles.

Meanwhile, Fabienne Nadarajah earned "Sprint Queen" recognition with victories in the 50 free (26.54), 50 fly (27.70) and 50 back (30.18).

For the men, three swimmers pocketed title trifectas. Maxim Podoprigora captured a breaststroke brace with victories in the 50 (29.26), 100 (1:04.06) and 200 (2:14.82), while David Brandl owned the distance freestyle events with wins in the 400 (3:51.35), 800 (8:06.78) and 1500 (15:29.28). Additionally, Dinko Jukic touched first in the 100 fly (55.54), 200 fly (1:59.14) and 200 IM (2:03.26).

Both Birgit Koschischek and Dominik Koll doubled during the meet. Koschischek won the 100 fly (1:00.79) and 100 free (56.84), while Koll touched first in the 100 free (50.70) and 200 free (1:49.51).

Nicole Gross (200 back: 2:22.27) and Nina Dittrich (200 fly: 2:13.87) snagged titles for the women, while Marcel Schaufler (50 free: 23.96), Sebastian Stoss (200 back: 2:04.47), Martin Spitzer (50 fly: 25.30), Erwin Dokter (100 back: 57.26) and Oliver Schmich (50 back: 26.36) topped their own events.
