The draft new City Plan is Council's plan for the future development of Brisbane. It guides how land in Brisbane can be used and developed. It also helps plan for infrastructure to support growth and create a more diversified economy while continuing to protect our city's enviable way of life.
The revised draft new City Plan and Council's response to the submissions received during the 2013 consultation period is now available.

After the largest city-wide public consultation program to take place in Brisbane in more than a decade, over 2700 submissions were received during the 60 day public consultation phase which closed at midnight on 30 July 2013. You can review the now superseded consultation version of the draft new City Plan.
In the first week of February 2014, Council met to consider all of the feedback received in submissions. After considering all feedback and making some changes as a result of submissions, Council has approved a revised draft plan.

Strategic Framework background
The Strategic Framework (Part 3) has guided the creation of the draft new City Plan. This framework draws a range of Council documents and plans together including:
- Brisbane Vision
- the Brisbane CityShape 2026
- numerous Neighbourhood Plans for local areas across the city
- the Brisbane Economic Development plan
- Brisbane's Unique Window of Opportunity report

The plan also responds to government policies and projects, including:
- the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2009-2031
- the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program
- draft Connecting SEQ 2031 - an Integrated Transport Plan for South East Queensland
In preparing the draft Strategic Framework, best practice in planning and urban design, detailed modelling of development, population and statistics have been considered. The framework also draws upon expert advice on topics ranging from traffic to design to air quality.
