Al-Rayyan Sports Club


Al-Rayyan Sports Club was officially founded in 1967 following the merging of the Old Al-Rayyan Team and Al Nusoor Team (New Al-Rayyan) under the name of Al-Rayyan Youth Sports Club. The founding of the Club was a dream for many of the people of Al-Rayyan area, particularly as the young people of this area were known for their high sports skills and talent. Discussions between the people of Old Al-Rayyan and those of New Al-Rayyan did not take long because both sides had equal enthusiasm. Both sides, therefore, met in one long-awaited dream and the first board of directors of Al-Rayyan Sports Club was formed in 1967. Since then, Al-Rayyan Sports Club has started its sports activities and has fulfilled its role in instilling genuine sports principles. It has fulfilled many achievements and won numerous football championships. It has also dominated the handball championships. In addition, it has fulfilled great achievements in volleyball, basketball, athletics, table tennis, tennis, bowling and chess as well as other cultural and artistic activities.

Volleyball started in Al-Rayyan Sports Club in 1968. Attention was paid to the creation of a base of various age groups. The Club has participated in many championships in the local, Arab and GCC levels. The Club is considered as a main source of players for Qatar national volleyball teams throughout history. The list of famed Al-Rayyan volleyball players includes Mubarak Eid Al-Abdulla, Mohammed Atiq Al Kuwari and Mubarak Rasheed Al Abdulla. The existing stars of the national team include Ali Ishaq, Ali Hamed, Soliman Saeed, Mubarak Dahi Waleed and Abdulrasheed Abdulrahman Owail.

- Winner of the 30th GCC Championship, Doha 2011
- Winner of the 35th Arab Championship, Tunisia 2001
- Winner second place in the Asian Championship seventeen - Iran 2013
- Winner of the national league; 6 titles
- Winner of HH the Heir Apparent Cup; 8 titles
- Winner of HH the Emir Cup; 11 titles
- Awarded General Excellence Shield; 16 awards
