Easter Egg Roll

136 Years of Fun

On Monday, April 21st, 2014, the First Family will host the 136th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year’s theme is “Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape,” and more than 30,000 people will assemble on the South Lawn to join in the fun.  The event will feature live music, sports courts, cooking stations, storytelling and, of course, Easter egg rolling. In addition to all of the fun, the day’s activities will encourage children to lead healthy, active lives in support of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative. You can follow the Easter Egg Roll on Twitter with the hashtag #EasterEggRoll and watch the event live on WhiteHouse.gov/live.

White House Keepsake Eggs

The 2014 souvenir eggs come in four bold colors - pink, orange, blue, green – and include the stamped signatures of the President and First Lady.  A commemorative purple “Bo and Sunny” egg is included only in the 2014 5-pack Collector’s Egg Set.

Learn more about the official White House keepsake eggs.

The eggs first became part of the tradition in 1981, when President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan hosted a hunt for wooden eggs that bore the signatures of actors, actresses, famous politicians, and athletes.

Easter Egg Roll Poster Contest

The White House invited all elementary and middle school students to submit poster designs that highlight the theme of the 2014 Easter Egg Roll, “Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape,” and promote the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative to help kids grow up healthy and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The First Lady will select the winning design, which will be used as part of the White House 2014 Easter Egg Roll program. Check back to see the winning designs.
