The City of Columbus offers several permits for purchase online. Currently available are permits for 1-, 2- and 3-family residential properties that are minor and limited in scope.
Those permit types are as follows:
- HVAC Permit: 1, 2 and 3 family residential repair and replace
- Electrical Permit: 1, 2 and 3 family residential repair and replace
- Plumbing Permit (non Water Heater): 1, 2 and 3 family residential repair and replace
- Backflow preventer
- Basement waterline replacement
- DWV piping repair and replace
- Tub and shower valve
- Water softener
- Water and deduct meter
- Plumbing permit (water heater only): 1, 2 and 3 family residential repair and replace
Prior to purchasing a permit online, register for an online account. To register, click the
Citizen Access Portal
then click the link in the upper right corner of the page marked "Register for an Account". Once your account is created, use your account credentials to log in and begin the online permitting process.
