The Marathon Run Museum houses a permanent exhibition entitled "Olympic Marathons". This exhibition is a donation from the Olympic Museum of Lausanne to the municipality of Marathon and contains texts and photographs about the history of the Marathon race.

The Museum's main building houses the core of the exhibition, a history of the Olympic Marathon. A secondary building houses auxiliary collections, Women and the Marathon, Marathon runners' equipment, and other issues.

The Marathon Run Museum , first called Centre for the Promotion of the Marathon Race was created by ATHENS 2004 and is being sponsored by ALPHA BANK.
